About the Founder

Green Insights LLC was established by Mindfulness Teacher and Landscape Architect Jane Sedonaen. Jane has over 30 years of experience in outdoor recreation, nature programs, landscape architecture, leadership, group facilitation, and wellness.  

As a mindfulness teacher, Jane offers a variety of mindfulness courses and specializes in mindfulness in nature practices leading organizational groups on daylong Mindfulness in Nature retreats. She is passionate about the connections between people and outdoor spaces and the benefits to health and wellness. Her teachings explore the use of nature-based meditation practices to counterbalance the effects of technology on our lives.

Jane is also a Founding Principal of Integrated Design Studio, Inc, a Landscape Architecture firm that designs outdoor spaces for schools, multi-family residences, community-based organizations, and single-family homes. Jane emphasizes that site design must consider not only the physical site but also the larger social context and the relationship between users and the environment.

In her prior endeavors, Jane served as a summer Camp Director for several summers. She also served on the Faculty at San Francisco State University (SFSU) Department of Recreation where she taught undergraduate courses in leisure wellness, play, and outdoor leadership. At SFSU, she also directed a program to train students, recreation professionals and summer camp staff in the facilitation of activities and inclusive games young people. In addition, Jane taught site planning and landscape design to graduates and undergraduates at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and the UC Berkeley Landscape Architecture extension program.

Jane holds an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from Brown University and a Masters in Recreation from San Francisco State University. She completed her nature-based mindfulness teacher training through Mark Coleman's Awake in the Wild teacher training program. Jane is certified by the Mindfulness Training Institute (MTI) and the International Mindfulness Teacher's Association (IMTA). She is a licensed Landscape Architect in CA #5057.

Jane lives in Berkeley, CA, and enjoys hiking, biking, gardening, reading, water sports, and spending time with her wife and small dog.
